Augusta Drive Homicide Investigation

An arrest has been made in connection with a homicide that occurred overnight on Augusta Drive.

Sean Smith, 53, has been charged with Murder and 1st degree Wanton Endangerment. Smith is currently detained at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning on Augusta Drive.

At 1:53 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2022, officers responded to the 1800 block of Augusta Drive for a report of a down subject. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lexington Fire Department.

The victim's name will be released by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.

Detectives are asking residents in the area to please check their home surveillance video and contact the Lexington Police Department if they have any footage that could help in the investigation.
