The City of Lexington/Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (“City and/or LFUCG”) created its official website (lexingtonky.gov) as a public service to provide information about City services, programs and officials. The City makes information available on its website to enhance public knowledge and promote a better understanding of the LFUCG. The website is a supplement to and not a replacement for information available from City offices. The City reserves the right to determine what information shall and shall not be placed on the website.
Information presented on this website is collected, maintained, and provided for the convenience of the user. While every effort is made to keep such information accurate, complete and timely, the City/LFUCG does not certify the authenticity of any information provided on this website. Under no circumstances will the City/LFUCG be liable for any actions taken or omissions made from reliance on any information contained herein from whatever source, nor will the City/LFUCG be liable for any other consequences from any such reliance.
Information provided on the City’s website should not be used as a substitute for legal, accounting, real estate, business, tax or other professional advice. The City/LFUCG assumes no liability for any damages or loss of any kind that might arise from the use of, misuse of, or the inability to use the City’s website and/or the materials or information contained on its website. All materials that appear on the City’s website are distributed and transmitted “as is,” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied and subject to the terms and conditions stated in this disclaimer.
Communications made through email or the City’s website do not constitute legal or official notice where federal, state or local laws, rules or regulations require that the City receive notice of any existing or potential claim or cause of action against it, its departments, agencies, officers, employees, representatives or agents.
The City strives to provide a safe and enjoyable computing environment. The City, however, assumes no liability for any virus or other contamination of or damage to your computer that might occur during or as a result of visiting its website.
By visiting the City/LFUCG website, users agree that they will not use the site for any unlawful activity or use it in any way that would violate the terms and conditions of use. This website is governed and construed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Any use of the website shall comply with all City/LFUCG and Kentucky laws and regulations as well as with all federal laws and regulations. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this website are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under state law and federal statutes including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. We monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or to otherwise cause damage to the City's website. Anyone using this website expressly consents to such monitoring.
The City website contains links to local, state and federal government agencies and to other non-government websites in accordance with CAO policy 44. In establishing and maintaining its official website, the City does not intend to create any forum or other means for public discourse. Rather, the sole and limited purpose of the permitted external links is to provide information about the City for residents, businesses and visitors. The City does not endorse or provide preferential treatment to any third-party websites or associated organizations or persons. Since the City does not control third-party websites, it does not warrant those third-party websites are accurate or reliable or have operational links. The user acknowledges and agrees that the City/LFUCG is not liable in any way for the content, accuracy, reliability, viewpoints, policies, or products provided by these external resources.
The City of Lexington will maintain complete editorial control over all the material present on the online calendar and reserves the right to change, add, or remove content without notice. Information on the calendar is limited to those meetings, programs and events sponsored or co-sponsored by the LFUCG. The online calendar will not list and/or promote any activities that take place on city-owned property that do not meet these criteria (e.g., rentals and neighborhood association events).
We will collect no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you voluntarily provide that information to us. We do not give, share, sell or transfer personal information to a third party unless legally required.
The City/LFUCG uses linking and searching capabilities to navigate publicly available information from many websites not part of our website. The privacy policies and procedures described here will likely not apply to those external sites. We suggest contacting these sites directly if you want information on their data collection and distribution policies.
The City/LFUCG also uses Hotjar to understand better how visitors use our website and improve their experience. Hotjar collects information about which pages people visit, how long they spend on each page, and what links they click. This information helps us make our website better based on user feedback. Hotjar collects data using cookies and other technologies. The data it collects includes the IP address (which is anonymous), screen size, the type of device, information about the web browser being used, the country the visitor is in, and the language preference. Hotjar keeps this information in a profile that doesn’t identify you personally. They are not allowed to sell any data they collect on our behalf.
The City/LFUCG is highly sensitive to the privacy and security interests of its residents and believes that the protection of those interests is one of its most important responsibilities. The City/LFUCG uses firewalls and other security technology to prevent its computers from being accessed by unauthorized persons. During the course of a credit card transaction on the website, all information submitted by a user is stored on a secured server. To perform services involving a credit card transaction, the City must, of course, pass information about the transaction to a user’s financial institution. The City will take reasonable steps to avoid causing this information to be shared with any other third party. This information shall not be construed as warranting the security of information provided via the City’s website.
While the City/LFUCG provides the information on all its publication channels to everyone, all information and materials provided on this website are the property of the City/LFUCG.
