Pennebaker Drive homicide investigation

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Pennebaker Drive.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021, officers responded to the 1000-block of Pennebaker Drive for a reported shooting. The victim, a 28-year-old man, was involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to shots fired. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Devante Bell.

During the investigation a 37-year-old suspect, Carl Munford, was arrested and charged with Murder and Wanton Endangerment 1st. Munford is currently lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
