Georgetown Road Shooting Investigation Update

UPDATE – 05/23/23: Steven Sheangshang, 45, has been charged in connection with the shooting that occurred on Georgetown Road. Sheangshang was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on May 23, 2023, and charged with the following:

  • Assault 1st degree
  • Robbery 1st degree
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
     

Sheangshang was Bluegrass Crime Stoppers Most Wanted Person of the Week on May 18, 2023, for unlawfully entering and burglarizing a garage. He was also charged with two warrants for Burglary 2nd degree when he was arrested. __________________________________________________________________________

5/22/23: One person is in custody after a shooting and robbery of a vehicle in Lexington this evening.

At around 5:49 p.m. on May 22, 2023, officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 2400 block of Georgetown Road. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital. Officers learned that the suspect shot the victim and stole their vehicle. Utilizing the Real Time Intelligence Center, Flock license plate reader system, and traffic cameras, information was gathered that led officers to locate the stolen vehicle on Whitney Avenue. The suspect was arrested a short time later at a residence on Charles Avenue. At this time, the investigation is still ongoing. The suspect is in custody, and charges are pending.
