Police department policies

Dozens of written policies govern how the Lexington Police Department meets its mission to serve and protect the community. They help determine the proper procedures for the department's day-to-day functions, including interacting with residents and documenting incidents. These policies are often based on standards established by CALEA, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. 

The department continually reviews policies and makes updates as needed. Questions about a policy should be directed to the Office of the Chief by emailing police-chief@lexingtonpolice.ky.gov
