Chestnut Street Homicide and Shooting Investigation

UPDATE – April 24, 2023: The female victim from Thursday’s shooting on Chestnut Street has succumbed to her injuries. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release her name.

The male victim has been identified as Timonte Harris, 43.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide and shooting that occurred Thursday evening on Chestnut Street.

At around 9:49 p.m. on April 20, 2023, officers in the area of 5th Street and Chestnut Street heard gunshots coming from the 400 block of Chestnut Street. When they arrived, they located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A female was transported to a local hospital with reported life-threatening injuries. A male was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the decedent’s name. 

Corry Jackson, 37, was arrested overnight in connection with the homicide and shooting. He has been charged with Murder, Assault 1st degree, and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. Jackson is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
