UPDATE – The Lexington Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred in August on Dakota Street.
James Catlett, 45, was arrested on September 24, 2022, and charged with murder for the August 31, 2022, shooting death of Dietrich Murray, 29.
Catlett is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The victim from this morning’s shooting near Loudon Ave and N. Broadway has succumbed to their injuries. The shooting is now being investigated as a homicide.
At around 7:45 a.m., on August 31, 2022, officers responded to Loudon Ave and N. Broadway for a subject that had been shot. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with reported life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. During the course of the investigation, investigators determined that the shooting occurred in the 700 block of Dakota Street.
The victim's name will be released by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
