Charles Avenue Homicide Investigation Arrest

An arrest has been made in the June 19, 2022 shooting death of Randy Wise.

DeMonte Cowan, 44, has been arrested and charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and 1st degree wanton endangerment. Cowan is currently detained at the Fayette County Detention Center.

An anonymous Bluegrass Crime Stoppers tip helped solve the case and led to the arrest.

June 20, 2022: The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday night on Charles Avenue.

At 10:44 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2022, officers responded to the 900 block of Charles Avenue for a report of subject unresponsive in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s name will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

Detectives are asking residents in the area to please check their home surveillance video and contact the Lexington Police Department if they have any footage that could help in the investigation.
