W. Short Street homicide investigation

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide.

On Monday, October 25, 2021, at approximately 2148 hours, officers responded to a disorder in the 300 block of W. Short Street. Upon arrival officer observed the 39-year-old male suspect, Benjamin Call, assaulting the 31-year-old male victim. The suspect was immediately detained and officers provided first aid to the victim. The Lexington Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name.

Call was arrested and charged with Murder, he is currently lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Detectives believe the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the assault. This investigation is still ongoing.
