Pemberton Street Homicide Investigation

UPDATE: One person has been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred on Pemberton Street in December 2023.

During the investigation, detectives identified Luquan D. Hayes, 26, as the shooter. Hayes was arrested on January 10, 2024, and charged with Murder. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening.

On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 4:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East 5th Street and Pemberton Street for a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived, they located a male victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound in the 500 block of Pemberton Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section are continuing to investigate.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased victim’s name.
