UPDATE – OCTOBER 22, 2023: One person has been arrested in connection with the September 23, 2023 shooting death of Dametrius Hampton, 18.

With assistance from the US Marshals Service, Tempe Police Department, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Adult Probation Services, and a tip received by Bluegrass Crime Stoppers, Jacolby Williams was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 19, 2023.

Williams has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in connection with the homicide. He is currently in a Maricopa County Jail awaiting extradition to Fayette County.

The suspect from Saturday’s homicide that took place on South Broadway has been identified, and detectives are asking that he turn himself in.

Jacolby Williams, 21, has been identified as the suspect. Williams has active warrants for Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in connection with the homicide.

Detectives are asking that Williams turn himself in to police.

Williams is considered armed and dangerous; the public should call local law enforcement if they locate him.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning on South Broadway.  

On September23, 2023, at around 3:27 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Broadway for a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived, located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

The Fayette County Coroner's Office will release the name of the decedent. 

Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Lexington Police at (859) 258-3600.
