Ohio Street homicide investigation arrest

The Lexington Police Department has arrested a homicide suspect.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at approximately 1243 hours, officers observed a suspect, Codie Calderon, 29-years-old, traveling in a dark SUV. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. While traveling on Fifth Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, Calderon struck another vehicle then fled on foot.

After establishing a perimeter Calderon was subsequently located in the 200 block of Fifth Street and taken into custody.

The driver of the other vehicle was reported to have minor injuries.

The investigation led to the following charges being placed:

-Murder

-Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree

-Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)

-Leaving Scene of Accident-Failure to Render Aid or Assistance

-Failure to Produce Insurance Card

-No Operators-Moped License

-No Registration Plates

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide.

Shortly after 12:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, police were dispatched to a call of shots fired in the 500 block of Ohio Street. Dispatch advised a group of individuals were arguing in the roadway prior to hearing gunshots. Upon arrival officers located a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital were he succumbed to his injuries. He was later identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s office as 27-year-old, Cameron Martin.
