Whitney Avenue Homicide Investigation

UPDATE – 08/23/23: A second suspect has been arrested for the murder of Stacey Marshall that occurred in the 300 block of Michigan Avenue on July 13, 2023.

Justin Brown, 26, was arrested on August 23, 2023, and is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on the below charges.

  • Murder
  • Burglary 1st Degree
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
     

Brown is the second person to be arrested in connection with the shooting death. Courtney Wrenn was arrested on July 14, 2023.

Courtney Wrenn, 33, was arrested on July 14, 2023, and is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on the below charges.

  • Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
     

During the investigation, detectives learned that the shooting actually took place at a residence in the 300 block of Michigan Street.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Whitney Avenue.

On July 13, 2023, at around 12:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Whitney Avenue after receiving a call for shots fired. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound outside. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section are continuing to investigate.

The Fayette County Coroner's Office will release the name of the decedent.
