Case Overview: Shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, March 4, officers responded to a home in the 900-block of De Porres for a reported shooting. The victim, a 28-year-old man, was struck by shots fired from outside the home. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Jesse M. Averitt.
