Registration for 2024 summer camps will open Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. for online and in-person registration. Click the link below to set up your online account and register for camps you're interested in.

Adult Sorta Summer Camp

Looking for a taste of the summer camp experience and nostalgia without needing a signed permission slip? Enjoy these fun sessions at various parks for our inaugural Adult Sorta Summer Camp! Session 1 (June 4 & 6) will include water safety with kayaking practice and races at Jacobson Park and Intro to Rock Climbing (Bouldering) and outdoor Olympics at Northeastern Park. Session 2 (July 23 & 25) includes water safety with canoeing practice and races at Jacobson Park and Intro to Archery at Hisle Farm Park archery range. Session 3 (August 20 & 22) includes an Introduction to Orienteering and an Intro to Archery at Hisle Farm Park. Registration for the Adult Sorta Summer Camp opens Monday, April 15 at noon.

Artkids Camp at Tates Creek Ballroom

At Artkids, campers will enjoy instruction in arts and crafts, theatre, dance, music, and swim time daily! This year’s camp will see campers embrace their inner magic with the world of Harry Potter

Camp Kearney at Jacobson Park

Ages 6 – 11

Activities planned include sports, arts and crafts, archery, canoeing, team building and more. All campers must be dropped off and picked up at Jacobson Park each day. Campers may register for one session only. Campers must be in the age range as of Aug. 3, 2024.

Camp Kearney CIT (Counselor in Training)

Camp Kearney’s CIT (Counselor in Training) program is designed to help develop leadership skills in teens interested in working with children (ages 6 – 11). CIT's will work with the CIT Coordinator to learn the basics of child development, programming, and supervision procedures and policies. CIT's will also work with staff to develop and co-lead informal and formal activities with campers. All CIT’s must be dropped off and picked up at Jacobson Park each day and may register for up to three sessions only. CIT’s must be in the age range as of Aug. 3, 2024.

Dance Babies Camp at Tates Creek Ballroom

Dance Babies Camp is a half-day camp for little campers between three and six years old. This camp focuses on beginning dance in jazz, tap, ballet and creative movement. The camp will also include music games, arts and crafts and story time. There is no swimming during Dance Babies.

Dance Kids Camp at Tates Creek Ballroom

Dance Kids Camp will include instruction in dance combinations of jazz, tap, ballet and hip hop. In addition, campers also will participate in arts and crafts and will swim daily. Previous dance training is not required.

Equestrian Camp at Masterson Station Park

Ages 10 – 13
$175 per session

This camp is geared to riders with no to very little riding experience. We will have two riders assigned to a horse, as partners and they will learn the beginnings of English riding and other details of what horse ownership entails. Campers will ride every day, as well as learn some entry-level horse husbandry skills and other fun activities. Helmets will be provided. Campers may only sign up for one session per summer. There is no lunchtime, so campers should eat before or after their sessions. Campers need to be 10 years old by the first day of the camp they are interested in.

Play Golf Lex Junior Golf Camp

Ages 6 – 16
$200 per session

Play Golf Lex Junior Golf Camps are both fun and educational, focusing on athletic and golf-skill development. With programming designed by PGA Professionals, campers are taught the basics of golf throughout the entire week. Instructors also utilize obstacle courses, throwing exercises, and other non-golf activities to promote the development of athletic ability. Campers must provide their own lunch, snacks and beverages (snacks and drinks available for purchase on-site). Note: Camp the week of June 17 – 21 is four days due to the Juneteenth city holiday on June 19.

Golf will take place in the morning and recreation activities will be in the afternoon. Lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Rising Leaders Teen Camp at Kenwick

Ages 12 – 15

The Rising Leaders Teen Camp offers youths age 12-15 a chance to find their voice through developing their leadership, communication and teamwork skills, while also enjoying a fun mix of activities over five sessions, all with different themes. Session 1 (June 10 – 14) will offer a mix of team building, survival skills, and a trampoline field trip, Session 2 (June 17 – 21) includes community service, outdoor activities, and a nature field trip. Session 3 (June 24 – 28) features a talent show, dance party, arts and crafts, and a rock climbing field trip. Session 4 (July (1 – 5) gives campers the opportunity to learn about leaders throughout history, engage in teamwork and communication games, showcase their skills in and Olympics event, and take a field trip to an arcade/game center. Session 5 (July 8 – 12) will cap off the camp with learning what it takes to be a local leader, water games, and a theme park field trip! Lunch and a snack will be provided, though campers can bring their own meals with them if preferred.

S.T. Roach Basketball & Cheerleading Clinic

Founded by legendary basketball coach and civic leader, Sanford T. Roach, these clinics offer young people the opportunity to participate in this structured basketball and cheerleading clinic at no cost. 

The clinics are taught by former and current high school coaches and college players. Participants will learn basic fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun environment.

Registration

Bluegrass Tennis Association (BTA) is partnering with Lexington Parks & Recreation to run a Tennis & Swim Camp for junior tennis players ages 6 – 14. Each session will include foundational tennis skills as well as educational components that will build character and confidence. We utilize the sport of tennis to promote health and wellness, and social and emotional skill development. In combination with tennis programs, children learn teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. Lessons are designed to engage children in meaningful and fun tennis activities that translate both on and off the tennis court. 

Registration for Tennis & Swim Full Day Camp and Tennis Only Half Day Camp will open on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.. Click the registration link above to register for full or half-day session. Scholarships are available. Participants must bring sunscreen, drinks, towel and lunch for full day camp and sunscreen and drinks for half day camp.

Support personnel will not be charged to attend.

Accommodations may be made for any camper to attend other camps of their choice.

Support personnel will not be charged to attend.

Count Me In – Financial Assistance

Any camp is eligible for a 50% financial assistance discount for youth in qualifying households. Any extenuating circumstances that may still present barriers after the discount will be reviewed by staff on a case-by-case basis for additional assistance to ensure that programs and events are equitably accessible to all.
