Lexington Fire Department urges citizens to stay off frozen lakes and ponds

Freezing temperatures in Lexington have caused many neighborhood ponds as well as other bodies of water to freeze. And while it may be tempting to walk or play on frozen water, the Lexington Fire Department warns of the dangers.

As the city prepares for forecast snow, ice and cold temperatures, Mayor Jim Gray today assured citizens that the City is prepared, but urged them to use caution. He also announced that city offices not involved with the snow event will be dismissed at 2:30 this afternoon.
