Youth football training league

Football leagues (flag/tackle) for boys and girls ages 5 – 11.

Participants learn the fundamental skills and techniques of football. Each player is guaranteed game-day playing time. The youth football training league is established in core values of:

$22.50 per flag participant | $32.50 per tackle participant
Helmets and pads provided. Uniform cost not included.

After July 16, 2021
$45 per flag participant | $65 per tackle participant
Helmets and pads provided. Uniform cost not included.

A limited number of scholarships are available.

Completed forms, with payment, should be returned to the Dunbar Community Center (545 N. Upper St.) or the Picadome Administrative Offices (469 Parkway Dr.). If mailing form, do not send cash, check only.  

Leagues and age divisions

Eligibility is determined by the participant's age as of August 1, 2021. 


  • Ages 5 


  • Ages 6 – 7 (Rookie)
  • Ages 8 – 9  (Junior)
  • Ages 10 – 11  (Varsity)

Season and schedule

Equipment distribution and practice begin in early August. 

The regular season is seven games to be followed by a post-season tournament. 

Games are scheduled weekly on:

  • Saturdays at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Sundays at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Referees needed

Lexington Parks & Recreation is seeking officials for their youth football league. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Experience in officiating or participation on a high school or college team is preferred but not necessary.
