Motorists reminded to use caution on morning commute

City crews have been out since 8 p.m. last night treating streets per the City’s snow plan. While main roads are in good shape, melted snow that has refrozen could cause some slick spots on previously treated roadways, especially neighborhood and side streets. Drivers should remember that bridges, ramps and parking lots can be slick when other areas are not.

Staff from Streets & Roads and Water Quality will remain on duty and will be responding to calls as necessary. Drivers are asked to not attempt to pass snowplows and allow extra following distance for everyone’s safety.

The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention’s Community Emergency Winter Weather plan remains active through the morning of Feb. 3 due to the cold temperatures. If you know of or see someone that appears to be in need of emergency shelter, call (859) 533-9199. If it is between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., call (859) 494-0470. For a list of all available shelters and transportation services, as well as other resources, visit uwbg211.org.
