Overview of council committees

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council has four standing committees that handle city matters.

Each committee is made up of 10 councilmembers.

Planning and Public Safety committee

The committee oversees all matters relating to Planning and Public Safety. This includes, but is not limited to, matters relating to:

  • Housing
  • Infill and redevelopment
  • Purchase of development rights
  • Historic preservation
  • Related partner agencies
