Crews focus on neighborhood roads today

City crews worked throughout the night as the response to Thursday’s historic snow event continues. Major roadways are clear in Lexington and snow plowing will continue through the day Saturday. Crews from the city’s divisions of Streets & Roads, Water Quality, Waste Management, Sanitary Sewer, Environmental Services, Code Enforcement, Sewer Treatment and Parks & Recreation are now focusing on ranked neighborhood streets, in accordance with the City’s snow plan.

Due to the low overnight temperatures, some previously treated areas have refrozen. Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution, particularly on side roads.

The Lexington Police Dept. has resumed the reporting of non-injury collisions in Fayette County. If you were involved in a collision that occurred prior to noon Friday, you should file a civilian collision report online.

From midnight to 5 a.m., the Lexington Police Department has responded to two non-injury collisions, two motorist assists and one traffic hazard.

The LFUCG Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention cold weather plan remains in effect through the morning of Saturday, Jan. 8. The Catholic Action Center, in partnership with Lighthouse Ministry, continues to provide shelter through 10 a.m. today. Lighthouse Ministry is located at 190 Spruce St.
