City Calls for Vaccine Canvassing Volunteers

Mayor Linda Gorton is calling on the Lexington community to volunteer with the new door-to-door vaccine outreach program.

“Our community has consistently stepped up to support a good cause and help one another,” Gorton said. “Now, we need community volunteers to help us make sure everyone has equitable access to the vaccine.”

The City’s door-to-door vaccine outreach program started last weekend in neighborhoods along Versailles Road. “While nearly 60% of Lexington’s adult population have been fully vaccinated, we are committed to bringing easily accessible vaccine clinics to underserved neighborhoods,” Gorton said. “Our door-to-door canvassers are letting people know about these clinics, going door-to-door and providing information about upcoming opportunities, and answering any questions.”

The program is focused on urging all Lexington residents, age 12 and over, to get vaccinated. The next mobile vaccine clinic will be open 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, at Centro de San Juan Diego, 1389 Alexandria Dr. Beforehand, the door-to-door vaccine outreach program volunteers will canvass the Versailles Road area. Volunteers are currently needed to walk and canvass on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6. Anyone interested can learn more by visiting lexdothis.nationbuilder.com/calendar

Anyone interested in volunteering as a driver, canvasser, and more, but unable to help this weekend, can visit lexdothis.nationbuilder.com/volunteer to express interest.
