Thanksgiving holiday waste collection schedule

Lexington will adjust its waste collection schedule for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. For all who receive city service, gray yard waste carts and bundles will not be collected Thanksgiving week. Recycle and trash carts, along with paper yard waste bags, will be picked up.

No waste service will occur Thursday, Nov. 23, or Friday, Nov. 24. Residents and businesses that normally receive curbside pickup on Thursdays or Fridays will be serviced on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Those with Thursday or Friday service should set out their green trash carts and blue recycle carts, along with any yard waste bags, after 4 p.m. on Tuesday to ensure Wednesday collection.

Crews collecting yard waste bags may not be able to complete service for both the Thursday and Friday routes on Wednesday. If they do not collect your bags on Wednesday, please leave them out. The remaining yard waste bags will be picked up the following week.

Businesses with dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) serviced by the city on Thursdays or Fridays will have their units picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Businesses with dumpsters serviced on Mondays or Tuesdays will have their units picked up on the regular collection day.

The Haley Pike Waste Management Facility, the Lexington Recycle Center and the Electronics Recycle Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Nov. 25.
