Waste collection changes due to heat advisory; city offices closed on Wednesday in observance of Juneteenth Holiday

With the implementation of Phase One of Lexington’s Heat Plan, Lexington’s Division of Waste Management will begin collection services an hour earlier this week while the heat advisory remains in effect.  City offices will also be closed on Wednesday in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

City waste collection will begin one hour earlier for the remainder of the week due to high temperatures expected through Saturday evening. This will allow crews to complete work prior to the hottest part of the day.

  • Residential collection will begin at 4:30 a.m.
  • Commercial services will begin at 3:30 a.m.

Place your carts on the curb the evening before your collection day after 4 p.m.

Due to the Juneteenth holiday, the Lexington Recycle Center and the Electronics Recycle Center will be closed on Wednesday, June 19. The Haley Pike Waste Management Facility remains closed on Wednesdays.

For more information, contact LexCall at 311 or (859) 425-2255.
