Intersection of Gainesway Drive and Greentree Road to be closed

After delays due to recent severe weather, sanitary sewer construction has finally reached the intersection of Gainesway Drive and Greentree Road. The intersection will be closed beginning Monday, April 22 and is anticipated to reopen by May 1.

Greentree Road from Centre Parkway to Gainesway Road and from Gainesway Road to Pepperhill Road will remain closed to through traffic until late June.

Detours are as follows:

  • Commuters traveling on Chinoe Road from downtown can use Pepperhill Road, Montavesta Road, Dove Run Road and Tates Creek Road to reach Armstrong Mill Road.
  • Commuters turning onto Gainesway Road from Tates Creek Creek Road can travel Claiborne Way to Greentree Road to reach Armstrong Mill Road and Centre Parkway.
  • Commuters coming from Pimlico Parkway can use Centre Parkway, Appian Way and Armstrong Mill Road to reach Tates Creek Road.

Access to homes will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is part of the West Hickman Trunk E sanitary sewer project, which is replacing and upsizing approximately 6,000 feet of sanitary sewer pipe from Armstrong Mill to New Circle Road.  This project is part of the federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.
