Mountain Biking

Lexington Parks & Recreation offers mountain biking trails at Veterans Park, as well as Deer Haven Park, and is proud to partner with the Kentucky Mountain Biking Association. The Bluegrass Chapter of the Kentucky Mountain Bike Association (KYMBA) is a bicycle advocacy organization dedicated to providing education, outreach, and environmental stewardship programs to communities and agencies in the Central Kentucky area. Please note that all mountain biking trails are mixed use.

Trail Locations

Veterans Park

  • Located in Veterans Park in southern Fayette County, the mountain bike trail is approximately 3.5 miles long and is built to standards established by the International Mountain Biking Association for beginners and intermediate riders.
  • The trail is a single track with minor elevation changes with mostly hard packed dirt with a few loose spots. There are multiple log rollovers, berms and rocks that are optional for more experienced riders. A “fix-station” has also been set up at the trail for riders to perform work on their bikes. Note: This is a multi-use trail so riders should be aware of walkers, joggers, dogs, etc.

Deer Haven Park

  • This park is a favorite for bikers, walker, runners, and neighbors. Take care to watch out at trail crossings and be courteous to the Brighton Trail users where the single-track intersects the paved multi-use path.
  • Access to the trails starts on either side of the Brighton and at the end of Walnut Grove Lane.
