Join us online for our next “Mornings with Planning” – a monthly interactive digital panel series, held on the first Wednesday of the month, to discuss how our City’s planning efforts have evolved and changed over time.

August's discussion, held on Wednesday, August 4, 9 – 10 a.m., will focus on Placemaking and Placekeeping. More than just promoting better urban design, placemaking facilitates creative patterns of use, paying particular attention to the physical, cultural, and social identities that define a place and support its ongoing evolution. Related, but distinct, is the act of placekeeping, which is the active care and maintenance of a place and its social fabric by the people who live and work there. It is not just preserving buildings but keeping the cultural memories associated with a locale alive, while supporting the ability of local people to maintain their way of life as they choose. Join our expert panel to learn more about these practices and how the Division of Planning supports design and place-related efforts.

Join our expert panelists:

  • Ryan Holmes, AICP, Principal, EHI Consultants
  • Justin Kirchner, MPA, Director of Homeownership, Lexington Community Land Trust
  • Michelle Kosieniak, RLA, Superintendent of Planning and Design, LFUCG Parks & Recreation
