Families with students attending the schools where ESP or REAL sites operate can apply. ESP services students from kindergarten to fifth grade and REAL services students from sixth to eighth grade. Each year, families must reapply to be accepted into the programs. Enrollment is first come, first served in allotted age and grade level openings.
Any child picked up after 6 p.m. will have a late charge added to the account of $5 per every five minutes after 6 p.m. (or 5:30 p.m. on full days, break camps, and summer camp). Continuous late pick-up will result in removal from the program. If a child is not picked up and there is no communication from the parent/guardian by 6:30 p.m., the Lexington Police Department will be notified.
How much does ESP cost?
There is a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $37.10 (maximum $74.20 per household).
- Full-time students (three or more days) | $70 per student per week
- Part-time students (one or two days) | $70 per student per week
- Scholarship full-time | $40 per student per week
Full-day rates are dependent on the number of days and activity fees. Rates subject to change. ESP will notify parents of any changes in advance.
How much does REAL cost?
There is a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $37.10 (maximum $74.20 per household).
- The a.m. session | $35 per week | zero – five days attendance
- The p.m. session | $35 per week | zero – five days attendance
- Both a.m. and p.m. sessions | $70 per week | zero – five days attendance

How to Apply
You can apply by sending an application in to ESPregistration@lexingtonky.gov. Applications will be accepted by email only. All completed applications should be accompanied by a current immunization for each child.
Immunization forms must be filled out by a medical professional and have an expiration date listed. Out of state immunizations may be accepted, but it may be required to schedule an appointment with your child's physician or KY Health Department to have it transferred to a Kentucky state form in order for your child to attend. Students with expired immunization forms will not be able to attend until we receive an updated form.
ESP/REAL will process each application within 72 hours of receipt in which registration is due. You will be emailed a confirmation and information on how to make the registration fee payment online at MyProCare.com. If there are questions, email the appropriate ESP/REAL staff member for your school.
Withdrawing from ESP or REAL
A written or emailed notice must be submitted to the ESP site two weeks prior to a child’s last day of attendance.
Re-entry into the program at a later time will be available only if space permits.
Accounts will be charged accordingly if dropping the program without adequate notice. Re-enrollment will not be accepted until the entire balance is paid.
