Visiting downtown city government buildings

The city government has a complex of buildings downtown that house the different departments and divisions.

Government Center
200 E. Main St.

Lexington Police Department
150 E. Main St.

Phoenix Building
101 E. Vine St.

Entering the buildings

All visitors must sign in at the security desk in each building. You must state the reason for your visit and provide photo identification. Security will print a temporary name tag to wear while in the building.

Visitors there to do business with a department will wait for a department representative to come and escort them to the right locations.

Visitors coming for committee and subcommittee meetings, council work sessions or council meetings will take the elevator or stairs to the second floor, where the council chamber is located. Once the meeting is complete, you must exit  the building or return to security to check-in if you wish to visit another floor.
