The Council Clerk’s Office is the official recordkeeping office of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The Clerk’s Office is charged with the recording and management of documents relating to the official actions of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, including Council meeting dockets, minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, leases, deeds and more.
The Clerk's Office also:
- Prepares and coordinates the docket for official meetings of the Urban County Council
- Issues certified copies of official records
- Publishes all ordinances and required resolutions in the newspaper
- Responsible for the publication of all public notices pertaining to official Council meetings
- Notifies news media about special meetings and public hearings conducted by the Council
- Records the minutes of all official Council meetings
- Administers the oath of office for various Urban County Government positions, boards and commissions
- Serves as secretary to the City Employees Pension Fund Board
- Handles the records of the LFUCG Ethics Commission
- Oversees records management practices throughout the Urban County Government
- Manages the Records Center and Archives
