Urban Services Public Hearing

The annual hearing on urban services changes will be held on Nov. 10, 2020 at 3 p.m. at a work session of the Urban County Council.  Due to the pandemic and state of emergency, the hearing will be held via video teleconference, because it will not be feasible to offer a primary physical location for the hearing.  Below are comment options.

Option 1:  Written Comment to Council and Mayor

If you wish to provide public, written comments, please email them to ndickerson@lexingtonky.gov or mail them to the following address:

All written comments should state your first and last name as well as your address. Written comment must be received by staff by noon the day before the meeting.  Written comment will be shared with Council and the Mayor.

Option 2: In-Person, Public Comment

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, additional protocols are in place to ensure healthy at work standards while still allowing public comment. The listed process below is for the urban services public hearing.

Below are the requirements for people wishing to participate in in-person, public comment:

  • Email or call (859) 258-3407 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to register. You must register no later than noon the day prior to the meeting to provide adequate opportunity to prepare in advance to ensure sufficient COVID safety protocols are in place.
  • Only those signed up to speak may enter the building to provide public comment.
  • Speakers must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting that they wish to speak.
  • Speakers will wait in line spaced six feet apart from each other. The floor in the lobby will be marked to ensure proper spacing.
  • Speakers must wear masks upon entering the building and throughout the entirety of their visit.
  • Speakers will have their temperature taken and must answer the COVID screening questions just as LFUCG employees do stating they are symptom free.
  • Speakers must check in with security upon completion of their COVID screening.
  • Speakers are encouraged to take the stairs if able.
  • Only two people in each elevator at one time.
  • 15 speakers will be seated, spaced six feet apart in the mezzanine, prior to their invite into the chambers to speak.
  • The order of speaking will be determined by the order of registration.
  • The podium and chairs will be cleaned by a General Services custodian between each speaker.
  • Each speaker must state their name and address for the record.
  • Each speaker will be given three minutes to speak.
  • Speakers cannot yield their time to others.
  • As soon as a speaker completes their remarks, they must check out with security and immediately exit the building.
