Lexington Parks & Recreation offers more than 50 shelters at parks throughout the city that are great for hosting birthdays, reunions, company outings and more. Each shelter ranges in size and amenities.

Shelter Rental Information

  • Outdoor rental shelters are available by reservation only at the following parks: Jacobson, Masterson Station, Shillito, Southland and Veterans parks.
     
  • Rental fees range between $55 – $120 per day. Park hours are generally 8 a.m. until dark.

  • Idle Hour Park has one rentable shelter complex, consisting of two 400-sq. ft. shelters.

  • Jacobson Park has seven rentable outdoor shelters ranging in size from 600 – 1,200 sq. ft.

  • Veterans Park has three rentable outdoor shelters, approximately 700 sq. ft. each.

First-come, First-Served Shelters

Over 50 picnic shelters in Lexington parks are available on a first-come, first-served basis. These shelters are free to use, but cannot be reserved. Find a first-come, first-served picnic shelter near you in the list below. Shelters are listed alphabetically by park name and include icons indicating various amenities.

Restroom Note: Many restrooms and water fountains are closed during winter months to prevent freezing of water lines. Most portable toilets are not available during the winter months.

Grill Note: All park grills are charcoal. Bring your own charcoal. If a shelter does not have a grill, you may bring your own propane grill. Personal charcoal grills are not allowed.
