Senior travel opportunities

Senior residents of Lexington have the opportunity to visit great places in Kentucky. There are also opportunities for national and international travel. 

These trips are organized by groups at the Lexington Senior Center.

Travel physical exertion rating
Watch for the sneaker rating for each trip! This rating is intended to be a general estimate of the physical exertion for the trip. Please speak with a staff member if you have specific mobility concerns.
ONE sneaker: Minimal walking, lots of sitting, may include stairs.
TWO sneakers: Moderate walking, may include stairs, walking between buildings, etc.
THREE sneakers: Lots of walking, may include uneven surfaces such as gravel or grass and/or multiple stairs.


You may sign up for day and overnight trips at any time after the advertised sign-up date. Register for trips at the 2nd floor travel table at the Senior Center.

Slots are on a first come, first served basis and ongoing until full.

Itineraries are available upon request. Itinerary times are approximate and subject to change as needed.

Staff is available to answer any questions and take sign-ups. Payment is due at time of sign-up to guarantee your slot. No spaces are held without payment. We are only able to accept checks or money orders; no cash accepted. Please make checks payable to LSC Travel. 


Park your vehicle at the Lexington Senior Center in the lower lot to the left of the entrance. All trip times are approximate and subject to change as needed.

    The Lexington Senior Center travel program will start again in March 2019! Watch for more information in upcoming newsletters and remember registration for these trips begins when the trip info is listed in the newsletter!

    Newport Aquarium & lunch at Hofbrauhaus Newport

    Cost is $65 that includes motor coach transportation, aquarium admission, lunch, driver & server gratuity.
    8:30 a.m. – Depart Lexington Senior Center
    10 a.m. – Arrive at Aquarium
    12:45 p.m. – Walk across the street for lunch
    1 p.m. – Lunch at Hofbrauhaus
    3 p.m. – Depart restaurant
    4:45 p.m. – Arrive at the Lexington Senior Center

    Cost is $15 that includes van transportation, admission, reserved grandstand seating and race day program.
    11:30 a.m. – Depart Lexington Senior Center
    Noon – Arrive at Keeneland
    1 p.m. – First Race
    4:30 p.m. – Depart Keeneland
    5 p.m. – Arrive at the Lexington Senior Center

    Kentucky State Parks & Western Kentucky Highlights
    May 13 – 16, 2019
    Highlights include Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Land Between the Lakes, National Quilt Museum, River Discovery Center and more!

    Waterways and National Parks of the Pacific Northwest
    July 25 – August 1, 2019
    Highlights include Mt. Rainer National Park, San Juan Islands and whale watching cruise, Chihuly Glass Museum, the Space Needle and other Seattle highlights.
    $3,395 per person double occupancy
    $4,390 single occupancy
