City crews continue to make progress with clearing and treating roads with salt and other materials. Roads will be slick in spots due to the extreme cold. The dayside crew that started at 8 a.m. will continue working into the early evening. At 8 p.m., a full overnight crew will continue addressing ice and drifting snow.
A reduced crew shift will continue tomorrow morning with clearing and salting efforts throughout the day.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay off the roads. If you must drive, use extreme caution.
From 4 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Lexington Police Department responded to 103 traffic-related calls with no significant injury accidents. As of 4 p.m., the call breakdown is as follows:
- 8 injury collisions
- 45 non-injury collisions
- 22 motorist assists
- 28 traffic hazards
Lexington Fire Department crews responded to 97 medical and fire-related incidents.
Kentucky Utilities reports 166 customers in Fayette County without power.
A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. tomorrow. Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy-blowing snow can significantly reduce visibility. Frostbite on exposed skin is possible in as little as 30 minutes.
