Leaf vacuum collection schedule is reset

Due to continued adverse weather conditions and a heavy volume of wet leaves, the city’s leaf vacuum collection program is adjusting its collection schedule a second time.

The city is divided into 36 collection zones. Fourteen zones have been completed. Thirteen zones are in process. The remaining zones are being delayed to allow crews to focus on active areas with emphasis on zones that have been active a week or longer. It is anticipated that the schedule change will allow crews time to catch up, though further adjustments may be necessary depending on weather later this week.

The schedule adjustment is as follows:

  • Zones that were scheduled to start on Thursday, Dec. 6, will now start on Monday, Dec. 10.
  • Zones that were scheduled to start on Monday, Dec. 10 will now start on Thursday, Dec. 13.
  • Zones that were scheduled to start on Thursday, Dec. 13, will now start on Monday, Dec. 17.

To find out when collection will begin in your neighborhood, go to lexingtonky.gov/leaves and type your address into the leaf collection map.

The city’s leaf vacuum program is available once a year to residents who have city waste collection service. The leaf vacuum program is a supplement to weekly yard waste collection. Residents can dispose of yard waste each week using the grey yard waste cart and paper yard waste bags on their regular collection day.
