Investigators think five gas station robberies may involve same suspects

December 22 Update - A Juvenile has been charged in connection with 4 robberies that occurred at Lexington gas stations.  The 16-year-old male, is charged with 3 counts of Robbery 1st and 1 count of attempted Robbery for the robberies that occurred on 11/26 and 11/28.  The juvenile is already in custody at the Fayette Regional Juvenile Detention Center on unrelated charges


Five incidents involving robberies or attempted robberies at Lexington gas stations over the past week are possibly connected. The Lexington Police Department is asking the public for help as it continues to investigate these crimes.

The cases involve a similar suspect and weapon description and method of operation. In each incident, one or two unknown males dressed in hooded sweatshirts enter the gas station, brandish a handgun, and demand money from the clerk. The robberies or attempted robberies believed to be connected are:

Nov. 25 – 2:45 a.m. – Shell station at 1975 Nicholasville Road

Nov. 26 – 2:15 a.m. – Circle K at W. Main Street & Forbes Road

Nov. 28 – 1:15 a.m. – Thornton’s at 1120 Winchester Road

Nov. 28 – 2:45 a.m. – Super America at Tates Creek Road & Malabu Drive

Nov. 28 – 3:30 a.m. – Speedway at 2900 Richmond Road

Investigators today released video and audio from two of the incidents in hopes of generating leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lexington Police by calling (859) 258-3600.
