November 26, 2016 - A Lexington man wanted in connection with the Thanksgiving Day shooting death of a 14-year-old boy has been located in West Virginia. Kevin J. Garcia, 23, was arrested Friday, November 25 by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department charged Garcia with Murder 1st.
Around 10:50 p.m. Thursday, November 24, officers responded to a home in the 100-block of Henton Road in reference to a shooting. Officers located the victim, who has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s office as 14-year-old Angel Juarez, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from an earlier dispute between Garcia and the victim’s older brother. Investigators determined that Garcia was attempting to confront the brother when Angel Juarez answered the front door and was shot.
Garcia is currently lodged in the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, WV and will be extradited back to Lexington.
