October 31 update – Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today obtained an arrest warrant in connection with last week’s homicide on Jeffrey Court. Robert McKissic, 30, is wanted for Murder in the death of Anthony B. Carter.
The investigation revealed that McKissic and the victim were acquaintances. Detectives determined that an argument between the two escalated, ending with McKissic shooting and killing Carter.
McKissic is originally from Detroit. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
Previously released October 27: The Lexington Police Department is investigating a homicide on Jeffrey Court.
Around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, October 26, officers responded to an apartment complex on Jeffrey Court where a man was located outside suffering a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a hospital where he later died. He has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office as Anthony B. Carter, 51.
The preliminary investigation has revealed there was some type of disorder that led up to the shooting. Detectives continue to gather information and evidence in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
