Homicide investigation underway after body found in apartment

Officers with the Lexington Police Department are investigating a woman’s death after her body was found inside an apartment on Winburn Drive.

Around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 26, officers responded to the Matador North Apartments for a possible deceased subject. The body of 37-year-old Kimberly Dianne Dayton was found inside an apartment. The Fayette County Coroner’s office determined the cause of death was asphyxiation.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about Ms. Dayton or the circumstances surrounding her death to contact police.
