A Lexington man is charged in the fatal assault of his wife. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today charged Jose Antonio Rivera, 38, with Murder and Assault 2nd.
Around 1:30 a.m. Monday, October 9, officers were dispatched to the 100-block of Codell Drive to investigate an assault. When officers arrived they located a female victim, outside of the apartment, who was suffering from serious injuries. The female victim was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The victim’s name will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s office. Additionally, the victim’s juvenile daughter was also assaulted but was not transported to the hospital.
Through the course of the investigation, patrol officers located the victim’s estranged husband, Jose Antonio Rivera aka “Tony”, at his residence and arrested him without incident.
Along with the Murder charge, Rivera is also charged with Assault 2nd for the assault against his juvenile daughter.
Rivera is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
