Grand jury returns murder indictment in missing person case

Willow CherrySept. 27 update - Willow Cherry turned himself in Thursday morning at the Fayette County Detention Center.


A Lexington missing person investigation has been reclassified as a homicide. On Tuesday, September 26, the Fayette County Grand Jury indicted Willow Bruce Cherry, 45, for the murder of Peter Lian.

Just after 1 p.m. on February 19, 2018, Lexington Police responded to the 100 block of N. Mount Tabor Road reference the report of a missing adult, 35-year-old Peter Lian. The pursuant investigation led detectives to believe that Lian was deceased as the result of an altercation he had with the suspect. Lian’s body has not been located.

Investigators are searching for Cherry. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts or with additional information about this case is asked to call police at (859) 258-3600.
