September 14, 2016 - Two people are charged in connection with the death of a man found in a burning car. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today arrested 21-year-old Jeremy Harris and 32-year-old Christie Hanley in connection with the September 4 murder of Joseph Trevor Dilger.
Mr. Harris is charged with Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Abuse of a Corpse.
Ms. Hanley is charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Abuse of a Corpse.
Additionally, both suspects are charged in connection with an unrelated robbery that occurred earlier this month on Village Drive.
Around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, September 4, officers responded to the intersection of Redd Road and Elkchester Road in rural Fayette County, where the Lexington Fire Department was putting out a vehicle fire. A deceased individual was located in the back seat.
The Fayette County Coroner’s office later identified the victim as 24-year-old Joseph Trevor Dilger.
This investigation is ongoing. Mr. Harris and Ms. Hanley are lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
Update 9/15/16: A third person has been charged in connection with the Redd Road homicide investigation. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today charged Justin Slone, 23, with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Abuse of a Corpse. Additionally, Lexington Fire Department arson investigators charged Mr. Slone with Arson 2nd for the same incident.
