One person has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred near Seventh Street and Florida Street that left one person injured.
On August 28, 2024, around 6:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Seventh St and Florida St for a shooting with a victim. When they arrived, they located a female victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled before officers arrived.
April Newby, 42, was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Possession of Synthetic Drugs 1st Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
She is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
