A Lexington woman has been charged with Murder and four counts of Wanton Endangerment in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday evening. Officers from the Lexington Police Department arrested Montash L. Jackson, 20, shortly after the shooting occurred on Liberty Road.
Around 10:50 p.m. officers responded to Liberty Heights Apartments for a shooting. The victim was found on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital and ultimately died from her injury. The Fayette County Coroner’s office has identified her as 19-year-old Jasmir Allen.
The investigation revealed that Jackson and another woman had been involved in an ongoing dispute that escalated. Allen was struck when Jackson fired several rounds in the direction of the woman with whom Jackson had been arguing.
Jackson is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
