The Lexington Police Department continues to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred late Friday evening.
Around 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 27, officers responded to a home in the 3500-block of Camelot Drive, where a man was lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office as 21-year-old Charon R. Alexander.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives have determined the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the drivers of two vehicles. The shooter was alone in his vehicle and remained on scene. Occupants of the SUV Alexander had been driving fled, but were soon located nearby.
Investigators have identified all individuals believed to be connected with this incident and continue to gather details about the course of events. No charges have been placed at this time.
