7/27/UPDATE - A Georgetown man has been charged in connection with a murder at the Day’s Motel in Lexington. Investigators with the Lexington Police Department today obtained warrants for Murder and Robbery 1st for Jemel Barber, 18. The warrants were served at the Scott County Detention Center, where Barber is currently lodged on unrelated charges.
7/25/17 UPDATE – Through the course of the investigation, detectives with the Lexington Police Department have charged Durease Richards, 23, with Facilitation to Wit Murder in connection with the homicide of Tyrece Clark that occurred at the Day's Motel on July 23. Richards is currently housed at the Fayette County Detention Center. The investigation is still ongoing; anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Lexington Police.
Previously Released: The Lexington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the Day’s Motel located at 1418 Versailles Rd. The shooting resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man who has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s office as Tyrece Lionel Clark.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 9:18 p.m., Sunday July 23. Upon arrival officers located Mr. Clark who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
Witnesses in the area reported seeing three male subjects leave the scene of the shooting in a black pickup truck. It is believed that the victim and the suspects knew each other. Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with additional information about this case to contact Lexington Police.
