A Lexington teen has been charged in connection with a weekend robbery. William (Tre) Handy, 19, was arrested by the Lexington Police Department Sunday and charged with Robbery 1st.
On Sunday, July 8th at 3:40 p.m., officers responded to Judy Lane for a report of a personal robbery. The victim stated that he responded to a Facebook page advertising the sale of an iPhone. When he arrived on Judy Lane to purchase the merchandise, he was approached by the suspect who was holding a semi-auto pistol. The suspect took the victim’s wallet and cash, and then fled back to one of the nearby apartments.
Through the course of the investigation officers were able to locate the suspect, later identified as Handy, at a nearby residence. After gathering sufficient evidence of the crime, the officers and a detective from the Personal Crimes section arrested Handy and charged him with the above listed offense. Further charges may be pending.
Handy is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
