Lexington Police Officer Injured During Investigation

UPDATE 06/18/22: Two people have been charged in connection with injuring a Lexington Police Detective.

Brandi Langston, 36, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • 2nd Degree Assault – Police Officer
  • Resisting Arrest
  • 1st Degree Fleeing and Evading Police (Motor Vehicle)
  • 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief

 

Robert Langston, 44, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • 1st Degree Fleeing and Evading Police (Motor Vehicle)
  • 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief
  • 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
  • 1st Degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument
  • 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument
  • Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card ($1,000<$10,000)

 

Both Brandi and Robert Langston are currently detained at the Fayette County Detention Center.

A Lexington Police officer has been injured while investigating a tip about the whereabouts of a suspect wanted for fraud.

Shortly after 1 p.m., on Friday, June 17, 2022, the Lexington Police Department received a tip about the location of a wanted suspect. A detective followed up on the tip and located the suspect in a vehicle on Hagerman Court. The suspect got out of the vehicle and threatened the detective while in possession of a firearm. A physical altercation occurred before the suspect returned to the vehicle, which was being driven by another person, and fled the scene. While fleeing, the vehicle struck the detective. 

The detective was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time, but all suspects have been identified and the investigation remains ongoing.
