Police working to identify suspect who stole from children's museum

The Lexington Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying a man who unlawfully entered into the Explorium and stole money from the safe on two different occasions.

On May 8 an officer responded to the Explorium located at 440 W Short Street for a theft report.  An employee stated that an unknown man unlawfully entered into the Explorium after hours and stole money from the safe. Video surveillance captured a male black suspect enter into the business unlawfully and commit the theft.  Employees stated the suspect had been in the business while it was closed to the public asking questions about purchasing a ticket.

On May 27 an officer again responded to the Explorium for a Burglary report.  The store employee stated that an unknown suspect unlawfully entered into the business and stole money from the safe again. Video surveillance from this incident captured the same male suspect from the previous Burglary on May 8, committing the crime again.

Investigators today released surveillance video from the business. Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is asked to contact Lexington Police at (859) 258-3600.
