Bike riders of all ages and skill levels are invited to Bike Lexington’s Family Fun Ride this Saturday, June 3. This free event includes giveaways and prizes, a kids rodeo, a slow cycle and the Family Fun Ride— an eight-mile police-escorted bike ride in the heart of downtown.
Registration is in-person and opens at 8 a.m. at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza, located downtown at Main St. and Limestone. The Family Fun Ride takes off from the courthouse at 10 a.m. The event is presented by Bike Lexington, Pedal Power, the Downtown Lexington Corporation and the city of Lexington.
The Kids Rodeo is a youth instructional bike course open to boys and girls ages 12 and under. This year, the Kids Rodeo course will be a closed circuit where participants will be doing a series of short laps. All participating kids must complete a waiver/registration form and wear a helmet. The Kids Rodeo courses will be from 8 – 9:55 a.m. at Short St. and Limestone.
Each registered participant will be entered in a raffle to win a free bike from Pedal Power.
The second annual Slow Cycle is a free competition for ages 18 and older. The object of the cycle is simply to be the last person to cross the finish line. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Bike Lexington registration booths. The Slow Cycle will take place at 9 a.m. at Short St. and Limestone. Complete rules are available at downtownlexington.com/bike-lexington.
