City seeks comments for Historic Courthouse Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives

Lexington’s public meeting regarding the renovation of the Historic Fayette County Courthouse located at 215 West Main Street will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 1 in the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion. The meeting will include an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA).

The ABCA was used to develop the environmental remediation plan for the historical site that has been closed since 2012.

Lexington received funds from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection to help address identified environmental concerns such as lead-based paint, mold, asbestos-containing materials and bird droppings.

The ABCA is available electronically at Lexingtonky.gov/brownfields and in hard copy format at the Central Library located at 140 East Main Street. In addition to the public meeting, public comments can be submitted via brownfields@lexingtonky.gov.
